Duo Brikcius

Das Duo Brikcius ist ein Kammermusikensemble das von den Geschwistern Brikcius, Anna Brikcius und František Brikcius, zwei vielversprechenden jungen Cellisten, gegründet wurde. Beide verbindet die Vorliebe für Solo Cello und die Neugier, ihre Repertoirekenntnis durch Musik für diese ungewöhnliche Besetzung mit großem Potenzial zu erweitern.

Die Hauptanliegen des Duo Brikcius sind:
- das Einstudieren und Aufführen von Kompositionen für zwei Celli
- die Aufführung von Repertoire, das dem Publikum kaum bekannt ist
- die Ermutigung zeitgenössischer Komponisten - egal welchen Alters oder welcher Nationalität - für diese Besetzung und dieses Ensemble zu komponieren
- die Fortführung der Tradition bereits bekannter Komponisten
- die Präsentation tschechischer Kultur im Ausland
- die Vermittlung der Freude an der Musik

"Duo Brikcius - 2 Cellos Tour" project of two Czech cellists, sister and brother Anna Brikciusová & František Brikcius is following previous projects related to Jewish / Terezín music ("Weinberger Tour" & "7 Candles") organized in the cooperation with the Jewish Museum in Prague. In addition to Fantasie IV (2008) by the Czech composer and organist Irena Kosíková, this will feature the premiere of Duo for Violin and Cello (1939–40) by the Jewish composer Gideon Klein, as arranged for two cellos. On the programme is less know repertoire of famous composers such as Luigi Boccherini (1743-1805), Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), Gioacchino Rossini (1792-1863), Paul Hindemith (1895-1963), Gideon Klein (1919-1945) and Irena Kosíková (2008).
