  You are invited to Advent concert "Duo Brikcius - 2 Cellos Tour" of two Czech cellists (and siblings) Anna Brikciusová and František Brikcius held on Saturday 17th December 2011, 7pm, at the Art Space Řetězová 7 ("The House of the Three Wild Men", Řetězová 7, Praha 1, downstairs).

  In addition to Fantasie IV (2008) by the Czech composer and organist Irena Kosíková, Duo Brikcius will play Duo for Violin and Cello (1939-40) by Terezín composer Gideon Klein, as arranged for two cellos. Concert will feature music by L. Boccherini, W. A. Mozart, G. Rossini, P. Hindemith, G. Klein and I. Kosíková as well.

František Brikcius: Mr. Kremlička, following your studies at the Academic Gymnasium in Prague and the Faculty of Education of the Charles University in Prague you worked in various posts (nightwatchman, geodesist, computing centre operator, etc.), you were member of music band Národní třída (1982/3 - 1985), front man of hard-metal band His Boys (1986 - 1988), you co-founded magazine Revolver Revue (1985) and weekly newspaper Respekt (1989). After the revolution you studied Czech studies and comparative law at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Charles University (1990 - 1998), you haven't completed. By the way you shortly functioned as external dramaturg at theatre Komedie in Prague. How have these experiences influenced you?

Vít Kremlička: I enclosed my studies at philosophy as I wanted. I finished 1st state exams and then, just for joy of knowledge, I kept studying with great teachers. Their knowledge was tested by life experiences, none of them was didactic from hotbed libraries. No one can take away my knowledge, even if they will try. I invested my own resources, time and spirit, so no one can blame me.

F. B.: You won prestigious Prize of Jiří Orten for your Lodní deník (1991). Did it affect your professional career?

V. K.: Hell no! At that time I studied at the Faculty of Philosophy to fulfil my education, there was no much time left for writing. Everything is happening in the time that I have to borrow from me.

F. B.: Since your literary debut in samizdat magazine Violit (1981), you published in other samizdat and exile almanacs, after the revolution your poetry, prose and journalism were printed in Alternativa, Babylon, Divadelní noviny, Lidové noviny, Literární noviny, Revolver Revue, Tvar and many others. What cooperation / redaction you liked most?

V. K.: Huge impact on my life was by redaction of the Revolver Revue. As was written in one pub in Zbraslav "How the times changes - what was, is not anymore, it will be, what returns, it is not, what will be lost …". Everything glance and disappear. I would love to remind characteristic redaction of magazine Tvar with ambition to rediscover already known again and again. Since five years ago I'm focusing on book micro recensions in A2, because they are my home publication arena.

F. B.: Better not to ask about your positive relationship towards empress Sisi and fishing. But I have to ask you, what is you favourite place to fish while wondering in countryside?

V. K.: Anyplace you can fish on float.

F. B.: What is important for you when writing poetry?

V. K.: I'm composing poetry, not writing. To compose, peace and a bit of supply in basic essential needs is enough.

F. B.: Except your own writing you are dedicated to education of murdered and unjustly prisoned writers. Following previous project "Saro Wiwa" about Nigerian writer Ken Saro-Wiwa (1941 - 1995), you will be introducing poetry by Tibetan poet Tsaring Woeser "Básně z Tibetu a o Tibetu II." in Unijazz, on Monday 12th December 2011. How did you get in touch with her work?

V. K.: Once in a while I'm doing small private inventory. I go through news and human rights press reports, if there are any literature related causes, then I'm focusing on them as much I'm able and as much as is possible. It's a solidarity to my colleagues in needs.


F. B.: Pencil, pen, typewriter or computer?

V. K.: If necessary even a burned match. Today everybody wants diary by Moleskine. I'm scribble with writer to workbooks, old calendars and it works well.

F. B.: Have you experienced anything nice recently?

V. K.: Not much. Most of the people doesn't fail, because they have too low expectations easy to fulfil. In art there is still certain archetype, uncertainty of spent effort and the result - that is exactly what is driving crowds away. Permanent heading towards ideal.
